1. Two Spoolholder types

Step 1 of 15 (Chapter 7 of 15)

Comments

In this chapter, we will assemble the spool holders. Before proceeding, note that there are two types:

1. Current Injection-molded spoolholder

Currently shipped in the MK4/S or CORE One versions. Continue to Injection molded spoolholder: parts preparation

2. Legacy vacuum-formed spoolholder

This old version used to come with the first MK3S versions or older upgraded units.

Continue to the Vacuum formed holder parts preparation

If the large portion of the box is occupied by the rectangular black trays, you have the first version, the older vacuum-formed spoolholders.

The Prusa Enclosure V2 - MMU2 appears to use the aluminum rods from the Classic vacuum-formed spoolholder, but I received the new injection-molded spoolholder. Does anyone know the dimensions of these rods?
Jan Kratochvíl

Hello. Dimensions of the rods: 8x120mm

so this NEW version DID NOT take into acct the SMALL SPOOLS? How annoying!
Quob
Won't lie, "older" vs "new" doesn't feel very nice if you have an older version in the box you just received.
David B.

On the other side, you have then received the more expensive version with the bearings.

Quob
Ah. Ok, fine - I take my complaint back :-)

There is one more Prusa Original version of spoolholder which followed vacuum-formed version as an upgrade. It is made from laser cut plexi and reused parts from vacuum-formed spooldholder. However the PTFE tube holder hole is a bit different. Assuming the spoolholder remains intacted and will be reused as is.
