The printer can fully recover from a complete loss of power without the need for batteries or a UPS. A special sensor detects mains voltage, and in case of an interruption, it immediately shuts down the heatbed and extruder heating, leaving enough power in the capacitors to store the position and lift the print head away from the print. In case of a very short power failure, the printer will attempt to continue printing immediately without waiting for user interaction.

If you want to test the power panic on MK3/S/+, check Testing safety features (MK3/MK3S).
Keep in mind that power panic doesn't work if you use the on/off switch on the PSU

Resuming the print

When the power comes back, the printer will give you an option to continue the print. Keep in mind that during extended periods without power, the bed will cool down and the printed object can detach itself from the sheet plate. So, before resuming the process, check the following:

  1. Make sure that all objects are still attached to the steel sheet plate.
  2. Follow the instructions on the LCD screen and resume the print.
  3. Stay with the printer for about 10 minutes and make sure that the printing process continues without any problems.

There was a very short power outage, less than a second, and my Core One did not resume on its own or offer a resume. This has happened twice now this afternoon with a print partway done. The print head did not even lift from the print. I even had the printer on a small UPS the second time and it didn't help at all somehow. You can see a video of this happening on my stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/juliathecuddledemon/clip/TubularBadAnisePeteZaroll-czUXlKvSqdPxe8EQ The cameras all stop when the power goes out but come back before the end of the clip, showing the print head where it was when the power went out and the printer cooling down. The LCD was back on the home menu.

My core one didn't restart the print after a power cut.
It was 20mins from finishing a 10hr30m print.
This is going to waste over 200g of petg.

Power went out on a 26-hr print. It was about 21 hours complete and failed to automatically offer to resume. The power was out for just 30 minutes. Why does this not work? And yes, the power panic is installed correctly.

There needs to be a manual way to restart!!! (Long exasperated scream that echos through the night.)

New Core One Assembled. Had a freak power outage in my neighborhood that lasted for several hours while my printer was ~20min from finishing a 8 hour print. Power came back on, and there was no option shown on my Core One indicating that I could resume, nor did it just restart on its own.

I checked submenus in the GLCD and didn't see any options regarding power recovery so I could verify if I need to enable this function (for the next time this occurs).

Is there any info on how to insure Power Recovery option is set up properly to work for the Core One? The instructions above only indicate that it *should* happen...
