1. P.I.N.D.A. adjustment, phase 1

Step 1 of 8 (Chapter 9 of 9)

Ensure the printer is turned off and not plugged in.
While moving with the extruder, the X-axis motor works as a generator. You will create a small amount of electricity and the LCD might flicker. Move with the extruder reasonably slowly and in the future always use the printer's controls.
Move the extruder manually all the way to the left.
By rotating BOTH threaded rods at the same time on the Z-axis move the nozzle until you reach the heatbed. Try rotating both the rods equally!
Check again from a different angle the nozzle is touching slightly the heatbed. Don't bend the heatbed!

Probably better to update the instructions to make sure the Y is not pushed all the way back beyond 200 or the backshell of the heatbed connector gets in the way of the extruder power cables.
Jakub Dolezal
Hi, the heatbed should be positioned as in the picture.
Dr. Ted
The heat bed cannot be completely forward (Y>207 && X<50 && Z<3) or the heat bed cable will interfere with the extruder cables.

If the software does not have a setting to prevent it from attempting to enter this region, it should.

Hi Jakob, I’ve completed my preflight and noticed the plate/print surface is slightly concave in the center, not a lot maybe .25 mm measured back & forth and side to side. it’s consistent over the whole plate. Is this enough to throw things out of kilter?
Jakub Dolezal
Hi Steve, as long as the Z calibration passes you should be fine. Printer will automatically adapt for certain differences in height across the heatbed.
Marauderz
Yeah.. let's add a warning so people don't freak out when the thing comes alive while moving the motors..
Jakub Dolezal
Hi Marauderz, thanks for the suggestion. It seems to worry the users, I will update the manual.

Found Waldos tip using a sheet of paper VERY useful. It avoids potential scratches at the same time since the sheet starts moving if it's getting to close to the heatbed AND IF so then makes them probably less serious.

Have the same issue with a bend heatbed. There is actually nothing you can do wrong assembling it to the frame (?)

Also. i have an about 0,4mm difference in heigth from front to back of heatbed, equal on both sides (?)
Jakub Dolezal
Hi Christian, thanks for the feedback. The heatbed can be slightly warped, the printer's software will solve this during initial calibration.
